Postcards of the World

The collection includes thousands of cards categorized by place or type. If you like wandering through the stalls of antique markets in the search of that unique item that is worth the visit, you already know well the fascinating power of old and vintage images. Places that are no more like that, customs and hair styles captured by the eye of a photographer or illustrator many, many years ago have a historical flavour brought to life by the power of the image. The uniqueness is given by the human experience of a visitor of long ago who left impressions in the language of the time of the places seen and people met; the official stamps and postmarks when present add historical authenticity to the item, while offering insight into political history of many world's countries. The variety and diversity of landscapes and subjects and the human experience connected to the postcards will lead you to travel in space as well as time.

The postcards are described to the best of my knowledge from direct examination, and they are sold as is, being old or vintage items and bearing therefore the signs of age. The unposted cards were dated with approximation on the basis of the cars, or fashion in clothes, or from other details. Posted cards and those bearing period stamps and postmarked are usually more valuable under a historical point of view.

Most of the cards are available for sale, and they are all unique, so even if I check daily to remove the cards that were sold there may be on rare occasions duplicate orders, in which case I will send a refund.

The backs of the cards are not shown for privacy reason and because I do not know all the languages and cannot be sure of what is written.

Shipping, packing and handling is calculated as a flat 5 euros that will be added to the total, whatever the number of items, and shipment is by priority mail; insured and registered or UPS shipment can be added according to the destination on request.
